BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A woman found more than she was looking for at Home Depot in West Boca when her shoplifting plans were foiled by store security personnel.

Kelly Brady, 36, of Sandalfoot Blvd in Boca Raton, was observed entering the Home Depot at 9820 Glades Road in West Boca with two juveniles. Brady pushed an empty lumber cart to the tool department where she was observed selecting a large lot of tools worth $1,094 dollars. Brady was then observed by the security personnel pushing the cart out the ‘Pro’ entrance without paying for anything.

Brady was apprehended by Home Depot’s Loss Prevention personnel and escorted back in to the store. PBSO was notified and responded as it is Home Depot’s policy to prosecute shoplifters. During the course of the arrest, Brady told the arresting deputy that she left her 6 month old Pitbull puppy, Angel, in the vehicle Brady drove to the store. At that time, they walked over to the vehicle and observed the puppy was clearly in distress. The deputy was able to get the puppy out of the vehicle and in to the store where she was provided water. Angel recovered without further incident.

DCF was notified due to the fact that Brady had two juveniles with her during the commission the the felony shoplifting at Home Depot. DCF is said to be following up on the incident. The two juveniles were picked up and brought back home when Brady was taken to the PBSO jail where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • 1 count of 812.015(8A) FELONY RETAIL THEFT
  • 2 counts of 827.03(2D) CHILD NEGLECT
  • 1 count of 828.12(1) ANIMAL CRUELTY

Brady spent two nights in jail and was released on $4,000 bond on Friday, January 7th, 2022.
