BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton police arrested Florence Okyerebea Djan, 69, on Feb. 12 after investigators said a driver reported fresh damage to her vehicle following an encounter at the intersection of East Glades Road and North Dixie Highway, according to an arrest report and probable cause affidavit.
The misdemeanor case, State of Florida v. Djan, Florence Okyerebea, was filed in Palm Beach County court as 50-2026-MM-001187-AXXX-SB on Feb. 13. Court records show the charge is criminal mischief above $200 but below $1,000 under F.S. 806.13(1)(b)(2). Bond was set at $2,000, and the case was continued to a Feb. 26 court date for case disposition, according to the clerk’s docket.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the complainant, identified in the report as Joan Minervini, told officers she was stopped at a red light at the Glades Road and Dixie Highway intersection when an unknown woman struck the top of the trunk with the bottom of a closed fist. The driver told police the woman then moved toward the driver’s side, yelled expletives when the window was lowered, and continued walking east on Glades Road.
Minervini then drove to the parking lot of Boca Raton Fire Rescue Station 1 at 1151 N. Federal Highway, where she told police she noticed a dent on her vehicle and called law enforcement, the affidavit states. Police described the vehicle as a gray 2025 Honda Civic and wrote that officers observed a dent about three inches in size on the trunk. The damage estimate listed in the affidavit was $300, and photographs were taken as part of the investigation.
Police said the suspect was located a short time later near Lake Wyman Park at 1500 NE 5th Ave, and officers detained a person matching the description. The affidavit states Djan was identified by Boca Raton Police officers “due to numerous law enforcement encounters.”
Minervini agreed to a show-up identification, according to the affidavit. Police wrote that the victim identified Djan with “100% certainty” as the person involved.
In a supplement attached to the affidavit, police wrote that after Djan was advised of her constitutional rights, she agreed to speak and told officers the vehicle “almost hit her,” so she struck it with a closed fist. Police wrote that Djan said she did not believe she caused damage.
The arrest paperwork lists the arrest location as 1500 NE 5th Ave and the offense location as 1 E. Glades Rd, with the arrest occurring around 12:18 p.m. on Feb. 12 and booking shortly after, according to the report.
The Feb. 2026 case is not Djan’s first recent arrest tied to similar allegations, court records show.
Palm Beach County clerk records for a separate case show Djan was arrested in early November 2025 in a matter that initially appeared under a felony case number, 50-2025-CF-008859-AXXX-MB, with docket entries listing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief among the charges at that time. The clerk’s docket later reflects the case was downfiled and referred or transferred to misdemeanor counts under 50-2025-MM-010687-AXXX-SB, with the felony case marked “do not docket” and showing “no file” entries after the transfer.
In other words: two separate arrests in recent months, both tied in part to alleged vehicle/property damage, with the November felony filing later moved into misdemeanor court per the clerk’s record.
What happens next in the Feb. 2026 case will be decided in Palm Beach County court. As of the Feb. 13 docket, the defendant entered a not guilty plea and the court record notes the defendant was not present and in custody and “refused court,” along with entries finding probable cause and indigency, and setting a no-contact condition.
