Four Shot, One Killed In The Acreage; Suspect Charged

WEST PALM BEACH, FL — One man has died and three other people were hospitalized after a shooting Tuesday evening in The Acreage, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

PBSO said deputies responded shortly before 5 p.m. June 23 to a shooting in the 4600 block of Coconut Boulevard. Deputies initially reported that three adults had been shot by a known suspect, but investigators later determined that four people had been shot.

According to a June 24 update from PBSO, the victims included two males and two females.

One male victim was found inside the residence, deputies said. Two other victims, a male and a female, tried to flee the scene in a vehicle but crashed a short distance away. A fourth victim, a female, fled on foot along Coconut Boulevard and was initially helped by a nearby resident, according to PBSO.

All four victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment. PBSO said one male victim later died from his injuries. As of the agency’s update, two victims, a male and a female, remained in serious condition, while the fourth victim, a female, was listed in stable condition.

PBSO identified the suspect as Thomas Faferko-Schmedes. The agency said he was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

A court docket entry dated June 24 lists one count of first-degree premeditated murder and three counts of attempted first-degree premeditated murder. The docket also shows Faferko-Schmedes was set for first appearance at 10 a.m. June 24.

PBSO said the suspect was detained after the shooting and that there was no immediate threat to the public. Detectives from the agency’s Violent Crimes Division are investigating.

The case remains active and ongoing. PBSO said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
