Boca Raton Crash Lawsuit Names Uber Entities, Driver In Palm Beach County Court

A Palm Beach County civil complaint alleges negligence against Uber-related entities and a driver after a Boca Raton crash.

A Palm Beach County civil complaint alleges negligence after a July 2024 crash near Banyan Road and Osceola Drive in Boca Raton.

BOCA RATON, FL — A July Fourth crash in Boca Raton is now the subject of a civil lawsuit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.

Jordan Richardson filed a complaint for damages against Uber Technologies, Inc., Rasier (FL), LLC, Portier, LLC, Schleuder, LLC, and Ven Hao Chiu Lam, according to court records reviewed by Boca Post.

The case, Jordan Richardson v. Uber Technologies, Inc., Rasier (FL), LLC, Portier, LLC, Schleuder, LLC, and Ven Hao Chiu Lam, was filed June 12, 2026, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County. The case number is 502026CA006602XXXAMB.

The complaint was filed by Mark J. Miller of Miller & Jacobs, a Pompano Beach law firm representing Richardson. The filing reviewed by Boca Post does not include a response from the defendants.

According to the complaint, the crash happened on or about July 4, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m. at or near the intersection of Banyan Road and Osceola Drive in Boca Raton.

The lawsuit alleges Lam was the owner and operator of a 2021 Toyota at the time of the crash. The complaint also alleges that an application was being operated, controlled, or managed by Uber Technologies, Rasier, Portier, and Schleuder at the time and location described in the filing.

The complaint claims Lam had a duty to use reasonable care while operating the vehicle.

Richardson alleges Lam carelessly and negligently operated the Toyota, causing it to collide with a vehicle operated by Richardson. The filing claims Richardson sustained serious and permanent injuries as a result of the crash.

The lawsuit says Richardson was injured in his body and extremities, or aggravated a preexisting condition. The complaint also claims Richardson suffered pain, physical handicap, loss of earnings, medical expenses, and impairment of future working ability.

Those claims are allegations in a civil complaint. They have not been proven in court.

The complaint brings five negligence counts. The counts are directed at Uber Technologies, Rasier, Portier, Schleuder, and Lam. Each count seeks damages in excess of $50,000 and any other relief the court deems proper.

Richardson also demands a jury trial on issues triable by jury, according to the complaint.

The case is newly filed and remains pending in civil court based on the complaint reviewed by Boca Post.
