Boca Raton Woman Accused of Stealing Car and Crashing It During Domestic Dispute in West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A domestic confrontation in a West Palm Beach neighborhood escalated into a vehicle theft and crash on Wednesday evening, leading to criminal charges against a 19-year-old woman.
According to an arrest affidavit filed by the West Palm Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of 29th Street at approximately 7:32 p.m. on May 28, 2025, in response to a vehicle crash.
When police arrived, they spoke with Antonio Smith, 22, who reported that his ex-girlfriend, Ke’Loni Durham, had shown up at his home in a black Honda and attempted to fight his fiancée, Denisha Smith. Antonio told officers he was inside his gray Honda Civic when Durham opened the rear driver’s side door and removed a child car seat, tossing it into the street.
As Antonio exited his vehicle to retrieve the car seat, he said Durham got into the driver’s seat and began trying to drive away. Antonio attempted to stop her by reaching through the window and grabbing the steering wheel. Despite his efforts, Durham allegedly put the car in drive and began moving forward with Antonio still partially inside the vehicle. Moments later, the car crashed into a parked Dodge Ram truck in front of 622 29th Street.
Antonio claimed that his arm remained inside the vehicle during the entire incident, and that he was in fear for his life. Officers documented visible injuries to his arms and back, including scratches, a contusion, and a small laceration. Photographs were submitted into evidence.
Durham allegedly fled the scene on foot, re-entered the black Honda she had arrived in, and left the area. Antonio positively identified her through a photograph in police records, noting that they had previously been in a two-year relationship and shared a child.
A second witness, Jose Mier, told police he observed Antonio carrying a car seat when Durham entered the Civic. He said a struggle followed, and he saw Antonio holding onto the wheel before the vehicle accelerated into the parked truck. Mier stated Durham then fled into a nearby dark-colored vehicle.
Denisha Smith, who was exiting the residence at the time, corroborated that she saw Durham run from Antonio’s car into another vehicle following the crash.
Police later interviewed Durham at 600 Banyan Blvd on May 29. After being read her Miranda rights, she claimed that Antonio had become aggressive after his fiancée began yelling from inside the house. Durham stated that Antonio hit her, pushed her into the driver’s seat of his car, and threatened her, allegedly saying, “I am going to make you kill yourself.” She also claimed he punched her and choked her through the window while she was in the driver’s seat.
Durham told investigators the vehicle was already on when she accidentally hit the gas pedal during the scuffle, causing the crash. She said she fled out of fear, adding that she is currently six months pregnant with Antonio Smith’s child. Text messages confirming the pregnancy were submitted as evidence.
Following the investigation, police determined there was probable cause to arrest Durham on two charges: burglary of a conveyance with assault or battery under Florida Statute 810.02(2)(a), and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage under Statute 316.061(1).
