UPDATE

According to PBSO, a Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound, in the outside through lane, on Palmetto Park Rd W and slowing to turn right into Veterans’ Memorial Park. At the same time, a scooter was traveling eastbound on Palmetto Park Rd W on the right-hand shoulder.

The scooter was improperly passing the vehicles in the outside through lane. While the Sentra was turning right into Veterans’ Memorial Park, the scooter entered into the Sentra’s path of travel, from the shoulder, and the right front fender of the Sentra collided with the left side of the scooter.

Post Impact, the driver of the scooter, Didier Estrada, and the passenger, Lian Cardenas-Cedeno, were ejected from the scooter and came tin the southeast corner of the intersection.

The scooter was then redirected onto the sidewalk where it came to rest.

43-year-old Didier Estrada was transported by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue to Delray Medical Center with life-threatening injuries where he late passed away. 21-year-old Lian Cardenas-Cedeno was transported with serious injuries.
