Second Fatal Train Crash In Broward County Today.

Broward Sheriff’s Office has provided the following update:

Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a Tri-Rail train on Wednesday morning in Oakland Park.
At approximately 10:14 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to reports of a Tri-Rail train versus pedestrian crash on the CSX railroad tracks at Commercial Boulevard, west of I-95. The preliminary investigation reveals that the pedestrian appeared to purposely stand on the southbound train tracks as the Tri-Rail train approached. The train struck the pedestrian, and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. 
The pedestrian has not yet been identified.

OAKLAND PARK, FL (Boca Post) — Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that a pedestrian has been killed by a Tri-Rail train in Oakland Park on Wednesday morning.

From Broward Sheriff’s Office:

Just before 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, Broward Regional Communications received a call regarding a crash involving a Tri-Rail train and a pedestrian on the CSX railroad tracks at Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. BSO’s Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Unit investigators are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

This accident marks the second fatal train crash today in Broward County. Boca Post earlier reported that a pedestrian was killed by a train in Pompano Beach
