BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A temporary traffic pattern is set to take effect this weekend at one of Boynton Beach’s busiest highway exits as bridge repair work begins.

Starting Sunday night, Jan. 4, 2026, crews are expected to begin repairs on the Boynton Beach Boulevard bridge over the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority railroad tracks. The work is scheduled to continue into early spring 2026 and is required before wider bridge construction can move forward.

The changes will directly affect drivers exiting southbound Interstate 95 at Boynton Beach Boulevard.

Under the temporary setup, the southbound I-95 exit ramp will no longer allow a free-flowing right turn onto westbound Boynton Beach Boulevard. Instead, all traffic exiting southbound I-95 will be required to stop on red at the traffic signal before entering the roadway.

Drivers accustomed to rolling through the exit without stopping should expect delays, particularly during peak travel hours. The signalized stop will control all movements from the ramp while bridge repairs are underway.

Additional lane impacts are also planned on Boynton Beach Boulevard itself.

The westbound inside lane of Boynton Beach Boulevard over the railroad tracks will be closed to allow crews access to the bridge structure. Despite the closure, two westbound lanes will remain open. Those lanes will be shifted to the outside shoulder to maintain traffic flow through the work zone.

Eastbound travel on Boynton Beach Boulevard is not listed as part of the lane closure in the temporary traffic plan.

Transportation officials say the repairs are a necessary step before bridge widening operations can begin. The work is expected to remain in place through early spring, though an exact completion date has not been announced.

Motorists traveling through the area are encouraged to plan for extra time, follow posted signs, and use caution when driving through the construction zone, especially at night when work activity may be higher.

Questions about the project or traffic changes can be directed to FDOT Southeast Florida at 561-589-9584.
