Palm Beach County Offering Free Property Fraud Alert Service

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Palm Beach County Clerk’s office tells Boca Post that the Clerk’s office offers free property fraud alerts and other services to homeowners in Palm Beach County.

From the Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller’s Office:

The housing market in Palm Beach County is one of the hottest in the nation, and the Clerk’s office is helping connect new homeowners with free services to protect their investment.

Throughout May and June – which is National Homeownership Month – the Clerk’s office is highlighting two of its important services for homeowners: The Clerk’s free Property Fraud Alert program, and its free Official Records Search system.

“There are companies trying to charge Palm Beach County homeowners for the services that our office provides for free,” said Joseph Abruzzo, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Palm Beach County. “We want to make sure all Palm Beach County property owners know about the resources and programs available for free from our office, to help protect them and their homes.”

The Clerk’s office recently created a one-stop-shop to help Palm Beach County homeowners connect with resources and services to help them protect their property. At www.mypalmbeachclerk.com/homeownership, any Palm Beach County property owner can sign up for Property Fraud Alerts, connect with the Official Records database, learn how to avoid paying high prices for certified copies of records and get information about the Value Adjustment Board for property owners who want to challenge the market value of their property.

The Clerk’s Property Fraud Alert is an automated tool that monitors your name in the Clerk’s Official Records system. Whenever a document is recorded in Palm Beach County, property owners signed up for the program will get an alert within 48 hours detailing what was recorded.

Homeowners can also use the Clerk’s Official Records system to download copies of their deed for free. Some companies try to sell certified copies of official records such as deeds for as much as $99, though those same copies are often available from the Clerk’s office for a small fee.

The Clerk’s office will be available to register homeowners for the Property Fraud Alert program and share other information during a series of “office hours” at Palm Beach County Library branches, municipal library branches, and Boynton Beach City Hall.

Upcoming “office hours” include:

    • Thursday, May 26: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Boynton Beach City Hall, 100 E. Ocean Ave., Boynton Beach
    • Tuesday, June 14: Lake Park Public Library, 529 Park Avenue, Lake Park
    • Wednesday, July 6: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Palm Beach County Library Gardens Branch, 11303 Campus Drive, Palm Beach Gardens
    • Wednesday, July 13: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Palm Beach County Library Hagen Ranch Road Branch, 14350 Hagen Ranch Road, Delray Beach
