BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — BSO detectives have located a missing man in Oakland Park, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit.

Detectives said 65-year-old Michael Vassell was located.

A BSO missing persons alert had been issued Thursday, March 5. BSO said Vassell was last seen near the 4900 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue in Oakland Park.

BSO’s Missing Persons Unit handled the case. The agency did not release additional details in the alert about where Vassell was found or what led to him being located.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons detectives are asking for the public’s help locating a 65-year-old man who was last seen in Oakland Park.

BSO said detectives with its Missing Persons Unit are looking for Michael Vassell, 65. He was last seen at about 6 p.m. Monday, March 2, near the 4900 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue in Oakland Park.

BSO described Vassell as about 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 190 pounds, with grayish black hair and brown eyes.

According to his daughter, Vassell experiences mental illness.

BSO is asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact BSO Detective Leonard Charla at 954-321-4274. Tips can also be made through the BSO non-emergency number at 954-764-HELP (4357).
