One Man Dead After Pompano Beach Crash

POMPANO BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A man was killed after a multi-vehicle car crash in Pompano Beach on Wednesday evening, August 10th, 2022.

Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that the crash occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, near the 2500 block of West Copans Road.

According to investigators, a silver 2019 Honda Fit was traveling eastbound on Copans Road when it struck the center median, which divides the east and westbound lanes. The Honda then crossed the center median, just east of Blount Road, continued east in the westbound lanes, where it crossed three lanes of traffic and then struck a grey 2015 Honda Civic. The impact forced the Civic off the roadway and into a tree located on the north side of the street.

Detectives say the Honda Fit continued east, struck a black 2017 Ford F-150, and came to a rest in the middle thru-lane.

BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded, and the driver of the Civic, the driver of the Honda Fit, and a passenger in the Honda Fit were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the Civic was pronounced deceased at the hospital due to the injuries he sustained during the crash.

On scene, detectives located an injured unrestrained dog inside the Honda Fit. The pet was given to relatives for appropriate animal care.

The investigation regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash continues. Detectives are trying to determine who was driving the Honda Fit.
