POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — Jesse Leidenfrost of Lighthouse Point lost his life in a tragic accident that took place early on Monday morning in Pompano Beach.
Investigators from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are looking into the details surrounding the incident.
As per reports, just after midnight on Monday, May 14th, deputies from BSO Pompano Beach District rushed to 500 West Sample Road in response to a collision involving a 2004 GMC Yukon driven by Amari Ifeadi. It was reported that Ifeadi attempted a left turn at Northwest Fifth Avenue while traveling westbound on West Sample Road. Unfortunately, this maneuver led him into the path of a 2014 Yamaha XV1900 Roadliner motorcycle operated by Jesse Leidenfrost, who was heading eastbound in the middle lane of West Sample Road.
Emergency responders from Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the injured motorcyclist to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Following the incident, both the driver and passenger of the Yukon fled on foot. With assistance from BSO K 9 and Aviation units, authorities were able to locate Ifeadi and another individual nearby.
The crash does not appear to have been caused by excessive speed on part of the motorcyclist. Investigations are still ongoing to determine further details.
