Man Killed In Deadly Pompano Beach Scooter Accident
POMPANO BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A man driving a scooter was killed after a collision with another vehicle on NE 3rd Ave in Pompano Beach on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023.
According to reports from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 3500 block of NE 3rd Ave in response to a car accident. The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 9:39 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, a 17-year-old male was traveling in a silver 2003 Toyota Corolla northbound on Northeast Third Avenue. At the same time, an adult male was traveling on a red 2020 Zhejiang-Jaijue JJ150-T scooter in the southbound lanes of Northeast Third Avenue.
At some point, detectives say the Toyota collided with the scooter and left the roadway. The vehicle then struck a concrete overhead light pole, which fell on top of a bus bench awning. The crash caused the driver of the scooter to depart from the motor vehicle and come to a final rest in the roadway. The scooter continued toward the east side of the northbound shoulder, where it was located.
BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene, and both drivers were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The scooter’s driver was later pronounced deceased due to the injuries sustained in the crash.
