81-Year-Old Pompano Beach Man Crashes Into Parked Car, Dies
Winfried Hopp Passed Away After Pompano Beach Crash
POMPANO BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that they are investigating an accident involving a fatality after an 81-year-old man crashed into a parked car.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that at approximately 1:40 PM on Friday, December 16th, 2022, deputies responded to the area near the 400 block of South Riverside Drive in Pompano Beach in reference to a vehicle accident.
Responding BSO district deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue located 81-year-old Winfried Hopp who had been involved in the accident. Investigators say Hopp was traveling southbound in a 2005 Kia Sedona on South Riverside Drive. At some point, the Kia left the roadway and collided with an unoccupied 1998 Honda Accord parked on the east side of the road.
Hopp was transported to Broward Health Imperial Point for treatment. He was later pronounced deceased at 2:06 p.m.
According to investigators, Hopp may have suffered a medical event that caused the crash.
