Motorcyclist Killed In West Delray Beach
DELRAY BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that they are investigating an accident involving a fatality after a motorcycle crashed into another vehicle in Delray Beach.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that at approximately 10:39 AM on Saturday, September 4th, 2022, deputies responded to the area of US-441 and Winners Circle in Delray Beach in reference to a motorcycle versus vehicle accident.
Responding PBSO district deputies and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue located a motorcyclist, identified as Oscar Benavidas, 42, of West Palm Beach, deceased at the scene. The other vehicle, a Honda Civic, reportedly had 5 occupants, none of which were reported to be injured.
PBSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives were notified and began an investigation into the incident. Detectives tell us that Benavidas was traveling southbound on US 441 approaching the intersection of Winner’s Circle.
Meanwhile, the Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Winners Circle at the intersection of US 441. As the driver of the Civic began to make a left turn to go northbound on US 441, the front of Benavidas impacted the driver’s side front corner of the car.
The force of the impact caused Benavidas to be ejected. Both vehicles were redirected in a southwest direction and came to rest in the median break.
According to witness statements and preliminary investigation, the speed of Benavidas may have been a factor. Benavidas was pronounced dead at the scene.
