Blake Buchbinder, 13, Passed Away
BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — 13-year-old Blake Buchbinder was riding his bike when he was struck and killed by a vehicle in unincorporated Boynton Beach on Wednesday evening.
PBSO deputies and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue firefighters responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the area of Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lyons Road just before 6 PM on Wednesday, June 14th, 2023.
According to deputies, Michelle Ruf, of Okeechobee, was traveling westbound on Boynton Beach Boulevard within the inside/left through lane. At the same time, 13-year-old Blake Buchbinder of Boynton Beach was on his bicycle northbound across Boynton Beach Boulevard on the west side of Lyons Road within the crosswalk.
Deputies say Buchbinder was crossing against the traffic signals as the vehicle traversed the intersection. Buchbinder traveled into the path of the vehicle; thus, a violent crash occurred as the left front of the vehicle impacted Buchbinder.
Sadly, Buchbinder has succumbed to his injuries.

He was my teammate, knew him for about 5 years, had no idea that something like this would happen to him, he was so funny and outgoing, he was one of the most talented players on my team, and he was our captain. LLB🕊️❤️
This is so sad! 🙁
Long live Blake 🕊️💔
Here to say that no one can even fathom this pain for the family. Praying for a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Did his parents ever drum bicycle safety into his head? He may not have wanted to hear it but it might have saved his life.
I’m sure they did. Accidents happen and best thing to do is say a prayer for the family, nor make jerk comments
Asking a question which could have saved the kid’s life is not a “Jerk Comment”.
This was an avoidable accident which makes it reasonable to ask why this poor kid didn’t obey the Traffic Light. A parent’s primary responsibility is for the safety of their children and prayers don’t replace that effort.
Ron Wheland You are an ***hole. You must not be a parent… and if you are, I feel badly for your children.
Prayers go out to the family…..
My heart aches for this sweet family!
I see many bike riders zoom across oncoming traffic, as well as I see cars zoom from the right to the left and vice versa. I’m sorry for such a young life to have been taken. Please bicyclers be careful and you must obey the traffic lights just as well as the cars.🙏
