Boca Woman Sues Boca Verde East After Elevator Slip And Fall

BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A Boca Verde East resident who slipped and fell while using her condominium’s elevator in July of 2021 is now suing the condominium for failing to follow its duty of care.

Maria Nelson, a resident at Boca Verde East, claims in her lawsuit that Boca Verde East failed to properly maintain the entire property including the elevator at her building, Building “D”, located at 400 NE 20th Street in Boca Raton.

Nelson and her lawyers claim that the condominium failed to provide a safe and secure environment w/ appropriate flooring and floor covering in the elevator. Further, the lawsuit says the condominium failed to exercise reasonable care to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition. The lawsuit also says that the condominium failed to comply with building codes and standards.

Nelson claims that she slipped and fell as a result of Boca Verde East’s negligence and is seeking damages in excess of $30,000. Nelson is claiming she suffered pain, physical and emotional handicaps, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, medical expenses, and the aggravation of a previous injury.
