Socialite Arrested For Domestic Battery. State Drops Charges.

The Palm Beach County State Attorney has dropped the charges against ‘the suspect’, claiming:
Insufficient evidence exists to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt due to an uncooperative victim and lack of independent evidence.
WELLINGTON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — The state has dropped all charges against a Wellington socialite who was arrested for allegedly punching her 77-year-old husband several times earlier this week.
The suspect, a 49-year-old woman from Sheltingham Drive in Palm Beach Polo Club of Wellington, has been arrested Friday evening by Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office. Boca Post has been notified that the charges filed include “BATTERY – ON PERSON 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER” and “RESIST OFFICER – OBSTRUCT WO VIOLENCE”
According to an arrest report obtained by Boca Post, Deputies were called to the Palm Beach Polo Club home for a domestic disturbance where they found the suspect’s 77-year-old husband battered with blood on his face.
Deputies spoke to the victim who said the two got into an argument after getting home from dinner. The victim told deputies that the argument escalated to the suspect striking him multiple times in the face and head. Deputies report that they observed blood and injuries to the 77-year-old’s face.
The victim then showed deputies where the master bedroom was and told them that the suspect has locked herself inside. Deputies asked the suspect to come out of the bedroom but she did not. The victim unlocked the door for the deputies who then found the suspect laying on her bed. The suspect was asked to get up from the bed but she did not. Deputies report that they assisted the suspect to the ground where she continued to resist arrest. the suspect was then taken into custody and escorted to the PBSO jail where she was charged with “BATTERY – ON PERSON 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER” and “RESIST OFFICER – OBSTRUCT WO VIOLENCE”.
The suspect was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 2:55 on Saturday morning. The suspect was released later in the afternoon on a $6,000 bond.
While a judge found probable cause, court records show that the state has since dropped all charges against the suspect citing the following:
Insufficient evidence exists to prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt due to an uncooperative victim and lack of independent evidence.
The sheriff and Clerk of Court were ordered to rescind the no-contact order.
Boca Post has inquired about this case but has not yet heard back from the Office Of The State Attorney, 15th Judicial Circuit, led by Dave Aronberg.
