ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — PBSO deputies shot, chased, and later arrested a woman who ran into a deputy with a stolen U-Haul truck in Royal Palm Beach.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 4:00 am on Sunday, deputies affected a traffic stop on a stolen U-Haul pick-up truck in the 200 block of Parkwood Drive, Royal Palm Beach.  The vehicle driver, James Boswell, of Atlanta, was arrested. While deputies were dealing with Boswell, Ginger Taylor slid into the driver’s seat and fled the scene.

Shortly before 5:00 am, the stolen pick-up truck was located at the Royal Inn Hotel.  As deputies were trying to make contact with Taylor, she fled the area and drove towards the deputy striking him with the vehicle. The deputy discharged his firearm. Taylor fled the scene driving north on Royal Palm Beach Blvd where she crashed into the fence of a home on Persimmon Blvd and Royal Palm Beach Blvd.

Taylor exited the vehicle and ran toward the back of the residence.  Deputies gave chase and she was quickly apprehended. Taylor suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Taylor, who has outstanding out-of-state warrants was transported to a local hospital, treated, and will be released to the PBC Jail.  The deputy was treated on scene for minor injuries.

FDLE (the lead investigators), PBSO Violent Crimes detectives, and the State Attorney’s Office investigators are investigating this Deputy Involved Shooting.

PBSO Deputy is currently on administrative leave which is standard department protocol.

Taylor faces the following charges:

  • HIT AND RUN – LEAVE SCENE OF CRASH INVOLVE DAMAGE TO PROP
  • MOVING TRAFFIC VIOL – OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE WO VALID LICENSE
  • RESIST OFFICER – OBSTRUCT WO VIOLENCE
  • 2 counts of FLEE/ELUDE POLICE – FLEE ELUDE HIGH SPEED OR DISR SAFETY PERS PROP
  • FLEE/ELUDE POLICE – AGGRAVATED FLEEING W INJURY OR DAMAGE
  • MOVING TRAFFIC VIOL – RECKLESS DRIVING 1ST OFF
  • RESIST OFFICER – WITH VIOLENCE
  • AGGRAV BATTERY – ON OFFICER FIREFIGHTER EMT ETC

Boswell was charged with the following:

  • 2 counts of FRAUD – POSS DISPLAY BLANK FORGED STOLEN DR LIC OR ID
  • MOVING TRAFFIC VIOL – OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE WO VALID LICENSE
