UPDATE: Delray Beach Man Shot During Burglary

One Man Shot, Transported To Hospital. Fall Ridge Of Delray Apartments.

UPDATE

A spokesperson for the Delray Beach Police Department tells Boca Post that the shooting was the result of a burglary attempt. At approximately 12:20 AM, DBPD was notified of a burglary in progress that was interrupted by a citizen. There was a struggle between the citizen and the burglary suspect and the citizen sustained a gunshot wound to his hand.

The suspect fled the scene following the shots being fired.

Delray Beach PD is calling this an active investigation.

DELRAY BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A 39-year-old man was transported to Delray Medical Center following a shooting call that Delray Beach Police and Delray Beach Fire Rescue responded to shortly after midnight.

A sizable response from the Delray Beach Fire Rescue and Delray Beach Police Department was observed near the Fall Ridge of Delray apartments early this morning. That’s because, at 12:23 AM, first responders were dispatched to a shooting call to the Fall Ridge of Delray apartments located at 1100 SW 4th Avenue.

Sources close to the incident tell Boca Post that one man was transported to Delray Medical Center. The 39-year-old man, who reportedly had a gunshot wound to his right hand, was said to be in stable condition.

We do not currently know if this was an accidental shooting or something else. Oftentimes, gunshot wounds to the hand are indicative of a struggle over a firearm. Boca Post has asked Delray Beach Police for a comment but has not yet received a response.
