BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — Southbound drivers on I-95 through Boca Raton should prepare for overnight detours as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues work on a regional safety project targeting wrong-way driving incidents.
The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Palmetto Park Road will be closed overnight from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, and again on Tuesday, May 20, as part of FDOT’s “Advanced Wrong Way Driving Safety Improvements Project” in Palm Beach County.
According to FDOT’s project notice, the closure is necessary to complete milling and resurfacing operations in the area. During the work, Florida Highway Patrol will be stationed on-site to assist with traffic management.
Detour Route:
Motorists heading southbound on I-95 will need to exit at Hillsboro Boulevard (Exit 42), make a left turn onto Hillsboro, and re-enter I-95 northbound to access Palmetto Park Road via the northbound exit.
Detour signage will be posted to guide drivers through the alternate route. The agency urges drivers to plan ahead, allow for additional travel time, and stay alert near the construction zone.
For updates and more information on the project, FDOT advises residents to visit the official FDOT Palm Beach County Construction Page.
