PEMBROKE PINES, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — Pembroke Pines Police arrested a man and two teens for grand theft auto after a multi-jurisdictional search.

The incident happened near SW 196 Avenue and Pembroke Road at 9:16 AM on Thursday, January 4th, 2024.

After an extensive search involving multiple police agencies, the Pembroke Pines Police Officers apprehended three suspects following a car crash. A concerned witness dialed 9 1 1 to report that a BMW had collided with a guardrail and two men and one woman fled towards the City of Miramar. The police swiftly established a perimeter and determined that the crashed vehicle had been stolen. With the help of aviation units and canine teams, they found the two male suspects in a densely wooded area and took them into custody. The female suspect was also located in the backyard of a nearby house and apprehended.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as Calvin L. Bennett, 26 years old, is facing charges including grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest without violence, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, driving with knowledge of suspended license, careless driving and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. The two juvenile suspects are being charged with grand theft auto and resisting arrest without violence. Additionally, the juvenile female has four active pick up orders from Broward Sheriff’s Office and will be charged accordingly.

The Miramar Police Department may impose additional fees. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Pembroke Pines Police Department, the Miramar Police Department, the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the Miami Dade Police Department and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, three individuals who were actively evading arrest were apprehended and a stolen vehicle was successfully retrieved.
