UPDATE

Three individuals, namely Paul Olivier, Daequan Griffin and a 17 year old male, have been arrested by detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit in partnership with the Miami Police Department. They are being charged in connection with a shooting incident that took place during an attempted robbery in Oakland Park. This unfortunate event happened around 8 p.m. On Thursday, September 14th, near the 3000 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard.

According to investigators, deputies from the BSO Oakland Park District were present in the area responding to a disturbance call at a local flea market. The call was related to a music video shoot. While they were on site, deputies heard multiple gunshots coming from a nearby gas station that were unrelated to the music video. The deputies promptly reacted by heading towards the scene and discovered two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds.

The Oakland Park Fire Rescue also arrived at the scene and unfortunately pronounced one of the victims deceased on site. The other victim received medical attention from paramedics and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Witnesses at the scene informed investigators that prior to the shooting, several individuals approached the victims who eventually became targets of this tragic incident. These individuals then fled from the scene in a dark colored vehicle.

During their investigation into this incident, detectives uncovered that it occurred during an attempted robbery targeting these victims specifically for their necklace and Rolex watch.
On Friday, September 22nd, the authorities from Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) made public the information about the victim who had passed away. They also issued a Broward County Crime Stoppers flyer offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information that could lead to an arrest in this case. Subsequently, on October 3rd, investigators released surveillance footage of a vehicle believed to be connected to the attempted robbery that resulted in a shooting.

After employing various investigative methods, detectives successfully identified Olivier (22 years old), Griffin (also 22 years old) and an unnamed 17 year old male as the suspects involved. As a result, arrest warrants were promptly issued.

According to investigators, Griffin and the 17 year old were already arrested by Miami Police in September on unrelated charges related to an armed robbery incident that occurred earlier this year in Miami. Now they are facing additional charges of first degree murder in connection with the case in Oakland Park.

On Friday, November 3rd, BSO investigators apprehended Olivier at his residence in Lauderdale Lakes based on their warrant. He is now facing one count of first degree murder and two counts of probation violation. There may be additional charges pending against him.

Investigators suspect that the individuals in question might have participated in other comparable robberies within Broward and Miami Dade counties. The Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide investigators have identified the victim as 36-year-old Anthony Davis of Oviedo, FL.

On Thursday, September 14 just before 8 p.m. there was a shooting, near the 3000 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard. According to investigators deputies from the BSO Oakland Park District were present in the area due to a noise disturbance call at a flea market, which was connected to a music video shoot. While they were at the scene deputies heard multiple gunshots coming from a gas station. They immediately rushed over. Found two individuals with gunshot wounds.

Oakland Park Fire Rescue also arrived at the scene. Sadly one of the victims was pronounced dead on site. The other victim was taken to a hospital by paramedics for treatment.

Witnesses informed investigators that several individuals had approached the victims prior to the shooting. These individuals then fled in a colored vehicle after the incident. Detectives mentioned that when BSO deputies and members of BSOs Burglary Apprehension Team (BAT) tried to stop a car matching the description those inside quickly got out of it. The suspects were promptly. Arrested on charges to this incident.

At this moment detectives do not believe there is any connection, between the music video shoot and the shooting.

BSO tells us that a shooting that took place at the 3100 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard, in Oakland Park.

At around 7:54 PM, on Thursday, September 14th, 2023, deputies from the Broward Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a shooting near the 3100 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard in Oakland Park.

Upon arrival they discovered two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds. Sadly one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was transported by paramedics to a hospital for care. The Crime Scene and Homicide Units from BSO are actively investigating this incident.

Preliminary findings suggest that the shooting may have occurred during a video shoot taking place in that vicinity; however detectives are still working to establish any connection, between these two events.
