HIT-AND-RUN: 47-Year-Old Dania Beach Woman Killed, Investigation Continues
LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A Dania Beach woman was struck and killed while riding her moped in Lauderdale Lakes, police say she may have been hit by two drivers.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman in Lauderdale Lakes.
According to investigators, around 3:25 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, Ines Carbonell was riding a 2020 Yongfu YN50QT-8 motor scooter heading southbound in the right thru lane in the area of North State Road 7 and Northwest 29th Street in Lauderdale Lakes. As Carbonell entered the intersection, an unknown vehicle, which was also heading southbound, struck Carbonell’s scooter in a rear-end-style collision. Carbonell was projected off of the scooter. The unknown vehicle fled southbound on North State Road 7.
Following the initial crash, the investigation reveals that another vehicle may have also struck Carbonell and continued driving.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Carbonell to Broward Health Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. Initially, Carbonell’s identity was unknown.
At this time, detectives have made several attempts to locate the initial unknown vehicle that struck Carbonell but have been unsuccessful. BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Traffic Homicide Detective Sean Strzalkowski at 954-321-4845.
