LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A high school student brought a toy gun to school which prompted a large response by BSO who locked down neighboring schools as well.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 7:47 a.m. this morning, deputies responded to a report of an armed person on campus at Boyd H. Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes. BSO district deputies and BSO’s Threat Management Unit were notified and responded to investigate, while BSO’s Real Time Crime Center immediately began reviewing live camera feeds from the scene. Deputies quickly established a perimeter. Boyd Anderson High School and three other schools in the area were on lockdown. Through investigative methods, deputies located the subject.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a student saw another student carrying what it appeared to be a gun. During their investigation detectives determined the item was a toy gun. The lockdowns have been lifted. This investigation is ongoing.
