BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — The 2023 Brotherhood Ride continues into Miami-Dade County today.
This week Broward Sheriff’s Office and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office worked to provide assistance in closing roads for the Brotherhood Ride. This charity organization consists of firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel who ride bicycles across multiple states and counties to honor fallen first responders.
The Motors Unit of BSO and PBSO’s Motors Unit have been escorting the group through Palm Beach, Broward and Miami Dade counties. The ride has been ongoing all week and the final ride is today, Saturday, November 4th.
For those traveling by car, it is recommended to consider alternative routes in order to avoid any potential delays caused by this not for profit organization’s journey through the following areas. Please note that the listed routes are subject to change if unexpected circumstances arise.
The final leg of the ride will start at the Hollywood Elk’s Lodge, 7190 Davie Road Extension, Davie, FL and continue to the Miami-Dade County line.
Among the heroes honored during the Brotherhood Ride is Nate Leonard, a dear friend, husband, brother, son, and amazing human being. James ‘Nate’ Leonard was a Coral Springs Firefighter who tragically lost his life after fighting a courageous battle against occupational (pancreatic) cancer in January of 2022.
Captain Chris Hunter with the Coral Springs Fire Department is participating in the ride, from Naples to Miami, and honoring Nate by wearing his service helmet. The group stopped by Station 80 to pay respects to Nate’s wife who was among the group who welcomed the riders.
