Authorities from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are looking into a car accident that resulted in the death of a man and injuries to two passengers in Pompano Beach area at night last Saturday near East Copans Roads 1100 block. Initial findings suggest Corey Escarment was driving a 2004 Toyota Highlander towards the direction when the vehicle skidded out of control and collided with a tree, in the central divider. The car was redirected to the westbound lanes. Eventually came to a stop there where BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived on the scene. Escarment was declared deceased at the scene while two adult female passengers in the vehicle were taken to Broward Health North for treatment of their injuries. Detectives have indicated that excessive speed is being looked at as a cause of the accident based on their initial findings. The investigation, into what happened during the crash is still ongoing.
