16-Year-Old Deerfield Beach Boy Has Died, 14-Year-Old Suspect In Custody

Update: Arrest Made After Teen Shot In Head In Deerfield Beach

Sadly, the 16-year-old boy has died.
BSO tells Boca Post that the body of 16-year-old Ricky Ferguson Jr. has been transported from the hospital to the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Shortly after 5 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, Broward Sheriff’s Office Deerfield Beach district deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to a shooting call near the 400 block of Southwest Second Street in Deerfield Beach. On scene, deputies learned the teenager had been shot.
Paramedics transported Ferguson to Broward Health North.
Through investigative means, detectives identified a 14-year-old as the shooter. BSO V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) detectives located and took him into custody Friday evening, Dec. 30, on one count of attempted second-degree murder. Detectives said the Broward County State Attorney’s Office is expected to upgrade the attempted second-degree murder charge to murder.

BSO tells us that detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) Unit have arrested a 14-year-old boy on a charge of attempted murder.
Shortly after 5 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, Broward Sheriff’s Office Deerfield Beach district deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to a shooting call near the 400 block of Southwest Second Street in Deerfield Beach. On scene, deputies learned a 16-year-old boy had been shot.
Paramedics transported the teen to an area hospital for treatment, where he remains as of this writing.
Through investigative means, detectives identified the 14-year-old as the shooter, and he was located and taken into custody Friday evening, Dec. 30. At this time, he faces one count of attempted second-degree murder.

BSO Fire Rescue responded to the Oveta Mckeithen Recreational Complex (OMRC) on Wednesday evening in reference to a teenager who was shot in the head.
