Coral Springs Police To Conduct Work Zone Safety Operations

CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — The Coral Springs Police Department will be cracking down on work zone traffic laws. Here is what you need to know.

The Coral Springs Police Department tells Boca Post that the department will be conducting operations throughout the city to ensure the safety of workers and pedestrians present in our roadway construction areas.

In cooperation with the Florida Department of Transportation, officers from the Coral Springs Police Department Traffic Unit will be assigned in and around posted work zone areas to ensure that drivers are adhering to the posted safety signs and detours. These uniformed officers will not only educate drivers on safe driving techniques but will be issuing citations to those not in compliance with state statutes. The goal of these operations is the ensure the safety of those present within these zones and reduce vehicle/ pedestrian crashes.

Operations will be conducted periodically Between 01/20/2023 and 09/30/2023

The department reminds us that a work zone involves workers, vehicles, trucks, and equipment that can necessitate lane closures, detours, and moving equipment, and can last from a few days to several years. While work zone fatalities make up approximately three percent of overall fatalities and two percent of serious injuries, the safe and efficient flow of traffic through work zones is an ongoing priority for Florida’s transportation and traffic safety partners.
