COOPER CITY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — The Traffic Homicide Unit detectives, from the Broward Sheriffs Office are currently looking into an incident that took place in Cooper City this Wednesday morning, where a woman lost her life in a single car collision.
At around 6 a.m on Wednesday morning of October 2nd the Broward County Regional Communications was contacted regarding a car found in a canal located at the 8800 block of Griffin Road in Cooper City area. Deputies from BSO and the Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue quickly arrived at the scene in response, to the report. Initial investigations suggested that an Infinity G37XS was heading west on Griffin Road when unexpectedly it swerved northwestward hitting a raised sidewalk and a concrete wall before landing in the C. 11 Canal where it eventually got submerged.
One of the passengers in the car named Joseph Foster managed to escape from the vehicle. Was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. Unfortunately the driver of the car, Caitlynn Heron, couldn’t free herself and was declared dead at the scene. The Dive Team from BSO arrived at the location to help find the vehicle, in the canal and pull it out of the waterway.
The detectives, from BSOs Traffic Homicide Unit are currently investigating the details surrounding the car accident.
