Boca Raton Man Tried To Take Cops Gun, Arrested
Joshua Cohen Of Boca Raton Arrested
BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — 39-year-old Joshua Cohen of Boca Raton was arrested by the Delray Beach Police Department after he allegedly tried to take an officer’s firearm while they passed each other in the halls at Delray Medical Center.
The officer provides the following account of what happened on the evening of Thursday, December 8th, 2022:
I was in the Emergency Room of the Delray Medical Center (5352 W. Linton Blvd) assisting a person while they were being admitted for care. As I was walking down the hallway helping that subject to his bed, I was approached by subject Joshua Cohen.
As we passed by one another within the crowded emergency room, Cohen (suddenly and without warning) lunged at and grabbed the handle of my holstered service firearm. Cohen then attempted to draw the weapon out of my holster but he was unable to gain control of the weapon before being taken into custody. Cohen stated that he intended to use the weapon to shoot himself in the head in the emergency room. The highly reckless act caused a distinct and present danger to myself and every person within the hospital at that time.
Cohen was arrested and transported to the Palm Beach County Jail where he was released without bond the following day.
