BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Two Boca Raton teenagers are in trouble again after being arrested for grand theft auto by the Boca Raton Police Department.

Sebastian Tafur, 18, who lives in the Crystal Palms apartments in West Boca Raton, was arrested again by the Boca Raton Police Department for several felony charges on July 23rd, 2022.

According to police, Tafur was driving a stolen vehicle with a passenger, Teagan Atwood, 18, of the 1300 block of SW 9th Ave in Boca Raton, when Police attempted to stop them. When BRPD initiated the traffic stop near 680 W Camino Gardens Boulevard, Tafur allegedly accelerated and then lost control of the stolen Hyundai Tucson, causing the rear tires to go flat.

Tafur then disobeyed lawful commands by law enforcement and fled the scene. Atwood cooperated and was taken into custody at the scene of the traffic stop. Police utilized K-9 and Aviation unit to locate and arrest Tafur.

Part of the narrative from the official report submitted by the Boca Raton Police Department can be found below:

Tafur continued to disobey lawful orders and fled westbound on Camino Gardens Blvd and then northbound behind 1251 Pepperidge Terrace. Atwood was then detained without incident. A perimeter was established. While searching the area I observed Tafur running through multiple properties and continuing to flee from my commands and several other Officer’s commands to stop. BRPD Ofc. Fabelo tackled Tafur in the backyard of 1126 Tamarind Way. Tafur pulled away from Ofc. Fabelo and then fled into the canal. By utilizing BSO Aviation Unit, PBSO K9, and BRPD Officers on foot, Tafur was located and detained in the backyard of 943 Pepperidge Terrace.

Boca Post previously reported about Tafur and Atwood who were both detained by Boca Raton Police earlier this month. On that date, Tafur was arrested for being in possession of a stolen firearm. A charge that the State Attorney recently dropped.

For this case, Tafur is facing the following charges:

  • VEH THEFT – GRAND THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE
  • COCAINE-POSSESS – POSSESS COCAINE
  • RESIST OFFICER – OBSTRUCT WO VIOLENCE

Atwood is facing the following charges:

  • DRUGS-POSSESS – CNTRL SUB WO PRESCRIPTION
