BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A Deerfield Beach man was arrested for Grand Theft Auto, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Nunu Miah, 42, of Jefferson Drive in Deerfield Beach, has been arrested Tuesday evening by the Boca Raton Police Department.
According to Boca Raton Police, nearby officers were alerted to a Volkswagen Jetta driving near 4000 Dixie Hwy by BRPD License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras. BRPD officers were alerted to the vehicle because it was reported stolen out of Miami in September of 2021.
Officers quickly caught up to the Jetta and initiated a traffic stop where they found Miah driving the vehicle. Miah was said to be very cooperative with BRPD officers and exited the vehicle without further incident.
Detectives spoke to Miah who admitted that he rented the vehicle from Avis back in September of 2021 but has not been making payments. Further, according to the report, Miah acknowledged Avis has been ignoring demands by Avis to return the vehicle that he kept on driving.
Miah was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 8:45 PM on Tuesday evening. Court records indicate Miah is still in custody with a bond set at $4,500.
