Boca Raton Teen Facing Serious Charges For Shoplifting While Armed
Boca Raton’s Santiago Rico Arrested For Shoplifting, Resisting, Weapon Charges
BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — 18-year-old Santiago Rico of Boca Raton is facing serious charges for what happened after he got caught shoplifting over $1,000 dollars worth of merchandise from Neiman Marcus at the Town Center at Boca Raton.
At 4:22 PM on Thursday, December 29th, 2022, officers responded to the Neiman Marcus located in the Town Center at Boca Raton on Glades Road in response to a shoplifting incident. There, officers found 3 loss prevention personnel who had custody of 18-year-old Santiago Rico who they say just stole 4 pairs of jeans valued at over $1,000.
The Loss Prevention personnel told officers that when they attempted to apprehend Rico, he resisted, and a fight ensued in the Mall. The 3 Loss Prevention personnel eventually apprehended Rico and escorted him back to the office.
Responding Boca Raton Police officers searched Rico and found that he was in the possession of a firearm and two magazines. Officers noted that Rico never brandished, used, or reached for the firearm at any point during the altercation. Police also note that Rico was cooperative and admitted to the theft.
Rico was transported to Boca Regional Hospital and then later to the Palm Beach County Jail where he was booked for the following charges:
- BATTERY – TOUCH OR STRIKE
- LARC – RESIST ARREST COMM THEFT RESIST RECOVERY OF PROPERTY
- LARC – GRAND THEFT 750 LESS THAN 5K DOLS
