Boca Raton Man Charged With Grand Theft
Mauricio Ulises Zelaya Franco Arrested For Shoplifting From Her Employer
BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Mauricio Ulises Zelaya Franco of Boca Raton has been arrested and charged with grand theft, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Mauricio Ulises Zelaya Franco, 35, of La Mirada Drive in the Boca Pointe community located in Boca Raton, has been arrested by the Boca Raton Police Department. Boca Post has been notified that the charge filed is grand theft.
According to an arrest affidavit submitted by the Boca Raton Police Department, officers responded to a “shoplifter in custody” call at Macy’s located at the Towncenter at Boca Raton.
Officers then met with a loss prevention employee who said that Zelaya Franco was witnessed on video throughout her shift (1600 hours until 2100 hours), selecting items, scanning them through the register, and then voiding the transaction. Zelaya Franco then concealed the items in a large Macy’s shopping bag. Zelaya Franco was seen walking to Macy’s exit at approximately 2130 hours with the unpaid merchandise. Zelaya Franco made no attempt to pay for the merchandise and passed the final point of sale without paying for the items concealed in the shopping bag. Zelaya Franco did not have permission from Macy’s department store to take the merchandise without paying. The merchandise amounted to 27 clothing items and had a total value of $1618.66.
The officer then made contact with Zelaya Franco in Macy’s loss prevention office. Zelaya Franco confessed to taking the merchandise from Macy’s without payment. Zelaya Franco advised she kept track of the items that she took by taking pictures with her phone.
Mauricio Ulises Zelaya Franco was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 2:30 AM on Friday, November 4th, 2022, and released later that day on a $3,000 bond.
