Boca Raton’S Teron Bethel Was Arrested For Carrying An Unlicensed Firearm And Battery On Law Enforcement Officers
BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Teron Bethel of Boca Raton has been arrested and charged with several felonies including unlicensed carrying of a firearm, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Teron Bethel, 21, of 1800 NW 4th Ave in Boca Raton, has been arrested by the Boca Raton Police Department. Boca Post has been notified that the charges include the unlicensed carrying of a firearm and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Boca Raton Police say that at 11:39 PM on September 11th, 2022, they attempted to make consensual contact with three individuals who were in the closed business parking lot of 2120 N Dixie Hwy. One of the individuals was identified as Teron Bethel who officers learned had an active felony warrant out of Broward county.
At that time, officers attempted to put Bethel in handcuffs. Despite being told by Officers multiple times to stop resisting, Bethel pulled away and got down from the car trunk he was sitting on. While doing so, a black semiautomatic Taurus G26 9mil handgun fell from his pocket. Bethel broke free and attempted to run away from the Officers. The officers then grabbed Bethel’s shirt, causing Bethel to turn around and push him with both hands. After a short foot pursuit, Bethel was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody.
Bethel later stated that he had the firearm in his right shorts pocket at the time of the incident and it fell out accidentally as he was trying to get away. He denied any knowledge of the warrants. At the time of this incident, Bethel does not have a CCW permit and is ineligible to obtain one due to being 20 years of age.
Teron Bethel was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 2:20 on Monday morning. Bethel remains in PBSO custody with a $9,000 bond set and an active warrant out of Broward county.
Bethel is no stranger to the Palm Beach County court system and has even been arrested within the last year for carrying a concealed firearm. In September of last year, Bethel was involved in a Loxahatchee car accident where he was seen running into the woods afterward. It was later determined that Bethel threw a gun and drugs into the woods after the accident; however, his plan was foiled when an off-duty Palm Beach Police Detective took him down a gunpoint while waiting for PBSO to respond.
