Jacob Ropp Arrested For Breaking Into Century Village Apartment And Attacking His Girlfriend
BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A 32-year-old Boca Raton man is in jail following his arrest on July 9th for breaking into a century village apartment and attacking his fiance who was staying with her mom.
Jacob Ropp, 32, of Boca Raton, was arrested by Palm Beach Sheriff’s deputies on July 9th following an incident that occurred on the morning of July 8th, 2022.
Ropp was accused of breaking into the apartment of his girlfriend’s mother who the girlfriend was staying with at the time. When Ropp showed up at the apartment, the girlfriend and mother refused to let him in. Ropp then removed a screen from the window and somehow forced the window open to make entry into the apartment.
Once in the apartment, Ropp threw his girlfriend down to the ground. The girlfriend’s mother says she observed Ropp strike her in the face.
The girlfriend’s mother called 911 and was screaming that Ropp was “battering a female”. Ropp then left the apartment with the couple’s young child, speeding off in his vehicle.
PBSO deputies later responded and contacted Ropp over the phone who was said to be confrontational and uncooperative. Ropp told deputies he had been to prison before and he does not “need to worry about him or his child”.
Ropp was later arrested and charged with “806.13(1B1) CRIMINAL MISCHIEF” and “810.02(2A) “BURGLARY TO OCCUPIED DWELLING WITH BATTERY”. Ropp was booked into the PBSO jail on July 9th at 3:20 PM.
Part of the narrative from the official arrest affidavit submitted by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office:
On Friday, July 8, 2022, at 1210 hours, F along with responding deputies, responded to Century Village West development in reference to an occupied burglary in progress. PBSO dispatch informed the responding deputies that the complainant was screaming that a subject named Jacob Ropp broke the window to her home and is currently entering the residence. The complainant also reported dispatching that Jacob was “battering a female” and took a boy from the residence. Upon arrival, I met with the complainant/victim who was visibly upset and crying.
The girlfriend’s mother stated her daughter’s boyfriend, Jacob Ropp, had just “broken into her home” and she stated the following. The girlfriend’s mother stated yesterday her daughter arrived at her home with her son. The girlfriend’s mother stated her daughter is afraid of Jacob because he is violent and her daughter decided to stay at her home with her son this morning, Jacob arrived at her home and began banging on the front door to the apartment, while asking for his son and the keys to a vehicle, which the girlfriend was using. The girlfriend’s mother stated she refused to open the door of the apartment because she is afraid of Jacob, The girlfriend’s mother stated Jacob became irate and again demanded that she let him into her apartment. The girlfriend’s mother again refused, so Jacob removed the screen from the front window of her apartment and somehow he was able to force the window open.
The girlfriend’s mother stated she and her daughter began to scream at Jacob because they were afraid and they told him to leave. The girlfriend’s mother stated Jacob then entered hor apartment through the window and ho then immediately grabbed the girlfriend and threw her down onto the floor. The girlfriend’s mother stated she then witnessed Jacob striking her daughter on her facial area several times and Jacob then grabbed bis son, The girlfriend’s mother stated Jacob then grabbed the keys to the vehicle, exited the apartment, and then attempted to flatten the tires of her daughters’ vehicle, which was parked in front of the building. The girlfriend’s mother stated Jacob then fled the scene, in his vehicle described as a black Dodge Charger, with his son at a high rate of speed. The girlfriend’s mother informed us that her daughter had sustained injuries to her lip and forehead, as a result of being struck by Jacob. The girlfriend’s mother also showed me the damaged window screen which Jacob removed and the window Jacob had entered through was still open. The window screen had a hole in it and was bent. The girlfriend’s mother then showed me photographs that she took of Jacob, which show Jacob walking up to the window, which was entered. The girlfriend’s mother stated Jacob has never Lived at her home and he never had permission to force his way into her home either. The girlfriend’s mother completed a recorded interview and the video was later uploaded into evidence. The girlfriend’s mother also completed a sworn written statement and positively identified Jacob in 2 familiarization photographs In DAVID.
I then spoke with the girlfriend, who was visibly upset and crying. The girlfriend stated she and Jacob reside together with a child. I noticed that the girlfriend had a bruise forming on her bottom lip and a large lip forming on her forehead. the girlfriend stated she and her boyfriend Jacob got into an argument and she was staying at her mother’s home because she felt safer. the girlfriend stated that this morning, Jacob arrived at her mother’s home without her mother’s permission and he demanded that she provide him with the keys to her vehicle, which is registered to him, and their son. The girlfriend stated she and her mother refused to open the door to the apartment, so Jacob became upset and removed the screen to the front window. The girlfriend stated she then witnessed Jacob open the front window and enter her mother’s apartment. The girlfriend stated Jacob immediately ran up to her and attempted to grab the keys to her vehicle which the girlfriend claims were inside her purse, that she was holding, the girlfriend stated a struggle ensued and the girlfriend stated she fell to the floor. The girlfriend denies that Jacob struck her, however, she claimed that her facial injuries were a result of Jacob struggling for her keys, which caused her to fall to the floor, the girlfriend stated Jacob was successful in grabbing the keys to her vehicle and then exited the apartment with their son. The girlfriend stated Jacob then fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed and she is concerned for her son’s wellbeing. The girlfriend completed a recorded interview and the video was later uploaded into evidence. The girlfriend declined to have DART photographs of the injuries she sustained. The girlfriend also completed a sworn written statement and positively identified Jacob in a familiarization photograph in DAVID.
The girlfriend then informed me that Jacob was on her phone. I attempted to speak with him in regards to the incident. Jacob was asked if he would return back to the scene or meet me somewhere that I could record his side of the incident and he refused. Jacob informed me that he had been to prison before and that I do not need to worry about him or his child. Jacob continued to be confrontational over the phone. I decided to end the conversation.
Deputies responded to Jacob’s home and canvassed the surrounding area and Jacob was not located. Later on, Jacob’s parents informed the deputies on the scene that the son was turned over to them and his parents will meet with deputies at his home. Deputies responded to that location and verified that the son was there with the girlfriend and he was unharmed.
After speaking with all parties involved, I find that there is probable cause to arrest Jacob Ropp for the charge of Occupied Residential Burglary with Battery per F.S.S. 810.02 2A and Criminal Mischief per F.S.S. 806.13.
The victim, who we describe only as Jacob’s fiance, has told Boca Post that Jacob was falsely accused by her mother. The fiance, like many sympathetic victims, says Ropp was falsely accused and that some of the events in the arrest affidavit never occurred. Boca Post reminds our readers, that an arrest affidavit is only an accusation made by law enforcement. Every person accused of a crime has the chance to defend themselves in court.
The state attorney has since dropped all charges against Jacob Ropp due to an “uncooperative victim”.
