Cole Goldberg, 23, of 2643 NWE 64th Blvd, has been arrested Sunday evening by Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
According to an arrest report submitted by FWC, officers say that while they were on marine patrol at Boca Bash, the event that brings 100s of boats to Lake Boca on the last Sunday of every April, they were flagged down by a boater in distress.
FWC found bystanders who say Goldberg has been arguing with his girlfriend for much of the day and observed him attack her. Goldberg was observed by several witnesses holding on to the woman as she was trying to leave the boat she was on with him. At one point, the woman left the vessel they were on and swam to a neighboring vessel. Goldberg reportedly then came up behind her and pulled her underwater.
Witnesses say that Goldberg held the woman underwater with both hands around her neck “in a complete rage”. Several bystanders jumped in the water and pulled Goldberg away from his girlfriend.
Witnesses say that Goldberg’s friends even left him behind during the attack. Bystanders used a stick to keep Goldberg in the water and off of their boat, away from Goldberg’s girlfriend.
FWC responded and pulled Goldberg from the water taking him into custody. Goldberg and his girlfriend both had bruises and scratches.
The woman has been identified as 32-year-old Caroline Schwitzky.
