HOLLYWOOD, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A Police Sergeant was injured after being shot by a suspect who was being chased for stealing a car.

According to the Hollywood Police Department, early on Saturday morning, Hollywood Police Department received a call for assistance from Golden Beach Police. Golden Beach Police and Sunny Isles Beach Police were attempting to stop a stolen car that was heading north on Ocean Drive. The suspects were attempting to turn onto Hallandale Beach Blvd, lost control of the vehicle, and took off running. Golden Beach Police began a foot pursuit, and during that pursuit, a Sergeant with Golden Beach Police Department was shot twice in the arm. He is stable and going into surgery.

HPD says they are grateful the injuries to the Sergeant are not more severe. Hollywood Police officers took the shooter into custody and an additional suspect was taken into custody as well.
