WELLINGTON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — The Village of Wellington has set an early January debut for its long-awaited new Aquatics Center, marking the transition away from the town’s aging pool complex on Forest Hill Boulevard.

According to an announcement from Wellington Parks & Recreation and Community Services, the new facility will officially open to the public on Saturday, January 3, 2026, with a ribbon cutting and a free, half-day community celebration. Town officials and council members are scheduled to participate in the ribbon cutting at 8 a.m., followed by a grand opening event that runs from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Aquatics Center is located at 3410 120th Avenue South, near Wellington’s Village Park and municipal facilities. The town describes the site as a state-of-the-art complex designed to serve residents of all ages, from competitive swimmers to families and seniors.

Admission will be free throughout the opening day, and the schedule is packed with demonstrations and activities intended to showcase the range of programming planned for the facility. Wellington’s dive team and water polo team are slated to hold exhibitions in the pool, while lifeguards will conduct water safety and rescue demonstrations. Water aerobics sample classes are also planned as part of the morning programming.

Music and interactive games will be provided by DJ Mark, and a NinjaCross demonstration is scheduled to highlight one of the newer aquatic fitness trends. Town officials say the goal is to give residents a hands-on look at what the new complex offers, rather than limiting the event to a ceremonial opening.

Food and giveaways are also part of the plan. Each attendee will receive one free food ticket, redeemable between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., while supplies last. A complimentary raffle ticket will also be provided to each guest for a chance to win swim passes and swim lessons. Winners must be present to claim prizes.

The opening of the new center coincides with the permanent closure of Wellington’s existing Aquatics Complex at 12072 Forest Hill Boulevard. The town has confirmed that Wednesday, December 31, 2025, will be the final day the current facility is open to the public. It will close at 5 p.m. that day and will not reopen.

Town officials have previously cited the age and limitations of the Forest Hill Boulevard complex as reasons for replacing it. The new Aquatics Center is intended to modernize programming, expand capacity, and better support competitive and recreational uses, particularly during peak seasons.

Residents looking for additional details about the facility, future programming, and membership options are encouraged to visit the town’s website, where an overview of the Aquatics Center has been published ahead of the opening.
