Not-So-Scary Halloween Family Fun

Join the Daggerwing Nature Center for Hoot & Howl, a spooky and fun filled evening on Friday, October 27th, 2023.
Mark your calendars for Friday, October 27th, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience Halloween in a family friendly environment after dark. Get ready to encounter some of your favorite nocturnal Halloween critters like snakes, owls, toads, frogs and even tarantulas!
The Daggerwing Nature Center has an exciting lineup of activities planned for you, including:
- Engage in the spider ring shuffle game.
- Test your skills with the spider web toss game.
- Participate in an entertaining animal trivia game.
- Don’t miss the chance to visit our exclusive tarantula exhibit available only on this special night!
- Be sure to catch a glimpse of our warty toad and take a look at our captivating snakes on display.
- Meet Artemis, our adorable screech owl, as well as Hoodini from Okeeheelee Nature Center.
- Let your creativity shine at our Halloween kids craft table!
- Embark on a thrilling nocturnal animal boardwalk scavenger hunt in the dark.
- Challenge yourself with the “Identify That Owl Call” activity on the boardwalk under the starry sky.
So bring the kids to The Daggerwing Nature Center in costume for an enjoyable evening filled with not so scary Halloween games and crafts. While having fun, you’ll also get the chance to learn fascinating facts about nocturnal creatures such as owls, toads, snakes and spiders!
Don’t forget to bring along your flashlight and bug spray so you can continue adventuring outside along the boardwalk during this enchanting nighttime experience.

Daggerwing Nature Center is located in the scenic setting of Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park in western Boca Raton. It boasts a spacious exhibit hall spanning 3,000 sq. Ft., featuring captivating live animals and state of the art interactive displays. Additionally, the center offers classroom facilities, a laboratory, an art gallery, a cozy reading area, a charming butterfly garden and an elevated boardwalk that guides you through a serene journey across a swamp. The boardwalk consists of two trails with comfortable seating areas and even an observation tower for an exceptional view of the flourishing plant and animal life around you. Keep your eyes peeled for our special guest, the Ruddy Daggerwing butterfly gracefully fluttering among the trees!
