Investigations are being carried out by the Traffic Homicide Unit of the Broward Sheriff’s Office into a car collision, in Pompano Beach that tragically claimed the life of a woman passenger in one of the cars involved.
At 8;13 p.m on Friday evening of October 4th as per investigators findings; Jose Garcia Pelaez was driving his 2008 Ford Mustang towards eastward on West Atlantic Boulevard in the 2300 block area while simultaneously Chris Cherenfant was behind the wheel of a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu heading westward on West Atlantic Boulevard and getting ready to take a left turn onto Walmart Drive; unfortunately as Cherenfant initiated his left turn maneuver onto Walmart Drive he was met by Garcia Pelaezs Mustang resulting in a collision at an intersection in a T bone style impact, on Malibus passenger side. The Mustang kept heading east before it flipped over and ejected a passenger named Margarita Ortuno Cruz from the vehicle.
Cruz was taken by paramedics to Broward Health North, where she was declared deceased following the incident while the drivers of both vehicles and an additional passenger, in the Mustang were also taken to Broward Health North for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
The inquiry is still, in progress.
