Law Enforcement 2025 Torch Run Set To Raise Awareness & Funds For Special Olympics Florida

On April 28th in the year 2025 athletes from the Special Olympics well as deputies from the Broward Sheriffs Office and other law enforcement officers from South Florida will come together once more. Their goal is to support and raise awareness, for Special Olympics Florida through the 42nd Annual Broward Law Enforcement Torch Run. The yearly occasion allows police officers to connect with Special Olympics athletes and contribute towards promoting awareness and raising funds for the mission of Special Olympics Florida. Offering sports training and competitions in various Olympic style sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities.The torch relay is scheduled for Wednesday morning from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. starting at 1100 Seabreeze Boulevard, in Fort Lauderdale and concluding at A1A and Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach. Following the run at Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Station 11 on 109 N Ocean Blvd. there will be a picnic to mark the occasion each year by Special Olympics Florida at which a chosen athlete lights the flame to kick off the run and carries the Olympic torch. This years appointed Special Olympics athlete is Matt Cohen who takes part in track and field events swimming and triathlons, among Olympic sports. Cohen participates in sports and is a valued member of the Special Olympics leadership team as well.The members of BSO extend their congratulations to Cohen for being chosen.The Broward Law Enforcement Torch Run is part of a relay covering 1 400 miles that concludes at the kick off event of the Florida Special Olympics Summer Games held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, in Lake Buena Vista. At 9 a.m. we’ll start at the South Beach Parking Lot on Seabreeze Blvd in Fort Lauderdale for the leg of 2 miles. By 9 25 we’ll reach the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and AlAl for the second leg of 2 5 miles. At 10 we’ll be at Oakland Park Boulevard on AlAl for the third leg covering 25 miles. By 10 35 we’ll hit Commercial Boulevard on AlAl for the fourth leg spanning over 31 miles.. Finally at Pompano Beachs Atlantic Boulevard, by 11 05 a.m. marking the end of our run.
