COOPER CITY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — At approximately 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a car in a canal in the area of Griffin Road and Southwest 90th Avenue in Cooper City.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle with two people inside went into a canal. An adult male was able to make it out of the vehicle. BSO’s Dive Team responded and located the vehicle with a deceased adult female inside. BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are also on scene conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

At this time, the westbound lanes of Griffin Road from Pine Island Road to the 8800 block of Griffin Road are shut down. Additionally, Orange Drive is shut down between the 8700 and 8800 blocks. Motorists are asked to please find alternate routes of travel.
