BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Northbound lanes at Federal Highway and NE 37th Street were closed Saturday afternoon because of a crash, according to a traffic advisory from the Boca Raton Police Department.

The advisory, sent as a non-emergency alert, said: “The NB lanes at Federal/NE 37th St are closed due to an accident. Please seek an alternate route.” The alert was sent at 4:03 p.m. Saturday.

The closure affects a stretch of Federal Highway (U.S. 1), a major north-south route through Boca Raton that carries local traffic and commuters moving through Palm Beach County. With the northbound lanes shut down at NE 37th Street, drivers should expect delays and detours in the area and plan extra time if they typically use Federal Highway to reach destinations north of that intersection.

Boca Raton Police is the agency issuing the advisory and directing drivers to use alternate routes. The alert did not include details about the crash, including how many vehicles were involved, whether anyone was injured, or how long the closure is expected to last.

For residents and drivers, the immediate takeaway is simple: northbound travel through Federal Highway at NE 37th Street is not available, and traffic will be pushed onto surrounding streets as motorists look for ways around the closure. Drivers heading north should avoid the intersection and follow posted signs and any directions from officers on scene.

What happens next will depend on the crash investigation and roadway clearance. Typically, lanes reopen once vehicles are removed and the roadway is safe for traffic, but Boca Raton Police did not provide a reopening time in the advisory.

Residents should watch for updates from the Boca Raton Police Department if the closure continues into the evening or if traffic patterns change. In the meantime, the department is asking drivers to take an alternate route and avoid the area if possible.
