BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Expect a soggy, stormy day in Boca Raton with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially from late morning through this evening. The main impacts will be periods of heavy rain that can quickly flood low-lying streets and poor-drainage neighborhoods, along with lightning and brief gusty winds. High temperatures top out near 78, with winds turning from south to northeast during the afternoon. Beach and boating conditions deteriorate late today and tonight as stronger onshore winds build surf and rip currents

South Florida is sitting in a very wet, storm-friendly pattern today, and Boca Raton is right in the zone for repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service notes deep moisture pooled over the region ahead of a front that has slowed down over central Florida.

In plain terms: the air overhead is loaded with humidity, so when storms form they can dump a lot of rain in a short time. A disturbance moving across the peninsula this morning is expected to help “kick-start” additional showers and storms.

Forecast guidance continues to focus the most persistent activity on the eastern half of the metro area, including Palm Beach County, where onshore flow near the coast helps storms keep regenerating. That raises the risk for training storms—cells that move over the same neighborhoods—leading to sharp rainfall differences over short distances.

For Boca Raton, the day-to-day forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain with new rainfall totals commonly around three-quarters of an inch to an inch, but localized totals can be much higher where storms repeat. The Weather Service highlights moderate to high confidence in urban flooding impacts along the Atlantic coast Tuesday into Wednesday, and a Flood Watch is posted for metro areas including Palm Beach County.

Marine conditions worsen quickly tonight and Wednesday as northeast winds ramp up and seas build offshore. Near the Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach waters, seas rise from 3–5 feet this afternoon to 8–11 feet overnight, then 10–14 feet Wednesday (higher at times), with rough to very rough conditions in exposed Intracoastal areas.

A Small Craft Advisory begins this evening, and the Weather Service also flags dangerous rip currents developing late Tuesday through midweek, with surf peaking Wednesday. If you’re heading to the beach, stay out of the water near piers and inlets; if you’re boating, consider postponing until seas subside.

7 Day Outlook

  • Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely most of the day (80%). Heavy downpours can cause street flooding. High near 78. Winds shift to northeast later; beach and boating conditions worsen late.
  • Wednesday: Another wet day with storms likely (80%). Breezy northeast winds with gusts around 20+ mph. High near 77. Additional coastal downpours could renew minor flooding in poor-drainage areas.
  • Thursday: Still unsettled with scattered showers and a few storms (70%), but the heaviest rain threat eases compared to Tue/Wed. High near 78. Northeast breeze continues; surf and rip currents remain dangerous.
  • Friday: A bit more sun, but still a 40% chance of passing showers and an afternoon thunderstorm. High near 78. Persistent northeast wind keeps the coast choppy and the beach risk elevated.
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny and breezy with only a 20% chance of a brief afternoon shower. High near 78. Winds stay northeast; seas remain elevated offshore even as rain chances trend down.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, breezy, and warmer. High near 79. Rain chances stay low, but the onshore breeze can keep the surf active and rip current risk lingering along the Atlantic beaches.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny and breezy again with highs near 79. The overall pattern favors drier air and fewer storms, though the coastal wind may stay noticeable and keep boating conditions somewhat rough.
