According to an arrest affidavit reviewed by Boca Post, officers with the Delray Beach Police Department responded to the 4900 block of Lincoln Road in reference to a shooting in progress at 5:29 PM on August 12th, 2022.

First responding officers found 32-year-old Derek Tucker who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. Tucker refused to comply with commands and ultimately walked away from the officers after a brief stand-off. Tucker reportedly said things like “Derek is god!” and “Nothing’s better than Heroin”. Tucker was tackled by officers and taken into custody.

Witnesses later told detectives that Tucker asked for help but was paranoid, delusional, and suicidal. Before Police arrived, Tucker has shot at the ground and into the air.

A neighbor, who heard the shots, went outside to see what was going on. Tucker then told the woman that he was going to kill her and that he had already shot someone.
