Christiano Castronova Arrested For Leaving The Scene Of An Accident Involving Death After Deadly Hit-And-Run

UPDATE

Castronova appeared before a judge this morning who set his bond at $110,000. He was ordered not to drive a vehicle. Castronova was also ordered not to have any contact with the victim’s family.

UPDATE

PBSO caught up with the deadly hit-and-run driver and arrested him just minutes away from his home.

As previously reported, PBSO detained the driver they suspected to be involved in the hit-and-run in Lantana on Friday evening. The driver, Christiano Castronova, 25, was pulled over by PBSO just minutes away from his home in Sun Valley near Boynton Beach Blvd and Jog Road.

Jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office this morning confirm that Christiano Castronova has been charged with “HIT AND RUN – FAIL TO STOP REMAIN AT CRASH INVOLVE DEATH” and “FLEE/ELUDE POLICE – FAIL TO OBEY LEO ORDER TO STOP”.

This is after Christiano Castronova reportedly fled the scene of an accident where his white BMW struck a pedestrian at Jog Road and Lantana Road just minutes earlier.

According to an accident report by PBSO traffic homicide investigators, Castronova was driving his 2006 BMW 7 Series northbound upon South Jog Road approaching the intersection of Lantana Road, while changing lanes several times to pass slower traffic.

A pedestrian, Lesly Ulysse, 52, was standing within the center median of South Jog Road, attempting to cross (eastbound) the northbound lanes of travel.

As Castronova approached the intersection of Lantana Road, while traveling within the center lane, Ulysse darted into the northbound lanes (traveling east – not in a marked crosswalk) violating Castronova’s right of way causing the subsequent collision.

Castronova collided with Ulysse before driving past the victim, turning left and stopping for a brief time, then completing a U-turn and traveling southbound on South Jog Road. Witnesses described Castronova’s vehicle as a white, four-door BMW passenger vehicle with front-end damage to the front bumper, grille, and hood.

As a result of the collision, Ulysse was fatally injured and pronounced deceased on the scene by members of the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

At approximately 6:43 p.m., Castronova was located by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies who stopped and detained him near his home on Boynton Beach Road and Jog Road.

Castronova was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with leaving the scene of a crash (causing death) and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.
