Boca Raton Resident Accused Of Stealing $650K Worth Of Handbags From The Gulfstream Residence Owned By Her Nj Family Employer

The accused, Liliana Vargas, was employed as a for a NJ family who also has a residence in Gulfstream of which Vargas was a full time housekeeper. Vargas is accused of stealing  approximately $650,000 in designer handbags and furs from her employer. According to a police report filed by the Gulfstream Police Department, Vargas admitted to the theft of the furs, handbags, and other items. Vargas admitted that she tried to pawn the items at a pawn shop in Delray Beach.

According to the police report submitted by the arresting officer, Vargas claims she received $50,000 total for the stolen property from a consignment shop in Delray Beach. Investigators claim they spoke to the consignment shop owner who admitted that they had an active customer relationship with Vargas. The owner said that she paid Vargas either in cash or via telephone applications.

Vargas confessed to the theft during a video recorded interview and the 31 year old female was arrested and sent to the Palm Beach County jail on 11/03. She was released after posting a $35,000 bond on 11/4. According to the PBSO booking blotter, she was arrested for and is facing 3 felony charges: 812.014 2A1 (FF) ‘LARC – GRAND 1ST DEGREE 100K DOLS MORE OR LEO SEMI’, 812.019 1 (FS) ‘STOLEN PROP-DEAL IN – DEALING TRAFFIC STOLEN PROPERTY’, and 817.034 4A1 (FF) FRAUD-SWINDLE – OBTAIN PROPERTY 50K DOLS OR MORE.

A court date is pending and of course everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty.
