BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A Boca Raton man was arrested for aggravated assault after threatening to cut his ex-wife with a knife after he spitefully slashed an air mattress she was taking while trying to move out.

Christopher Evans, 53, of Camden Boca Raton Apartments located at 131 S Federal Highway in Boca Raton, was arrested for aggravated assault last week on July 16th, 2022. The arrest comes after Evans was accused of threatening to cut his ex-wife following a heated argument. The threat immediately followed Evans slicing an air mattress the ex-wife was attempting to remove from the apartment she was moving out of. According to the ex-wife, that is when Evans said “this is what I’m going to do to you”.

The complete narrative from the arrest report Boca Post received from the Boca Raton Police Department can be reviewed here:

“On 7/15/2022 at approximately 1421 hours, I responded to 131 S Federal Highway in Boca Raton reference a domestic dispute between the victim and her ex-husband Christopher Evans.”

“Upon arrival, I met with the victim who advised that she and Christopher got into a
verbal argument around 0400 hours this morning where Christopher told her to get out of
the apartment. The victim advised that she left for the remainder of
the morning and returned to the apartment around 1214 hours to gather the rest of their
belongings. Another verbal argument ensued, and police were called, but no crime was
determined to have been committed at that time”

“At 1444 hours, the victim called BRPD stating that Christopher had a kitchen knife and
was stabbing the bed with it. The victim advised that she locked herself in the bathroom
and waited for police arrival. When police arrived, the victim opened the door and
advised that Christopher had left the area. She felt that Christopher may have gone to
his friend’s apartment in the same building.

“The victim explained that while she was gathering her belongings to move out of the
apartment, Christopher grew angry that she was taking an air mattress with her. The
victim said that Christopher grabbed a chef’s knife from the kitchen and stabbed the air
mattress stating, “this is what I’m going to do to you”. The victim then fled into the
bathroom and called the police. Note, that there was not a knife left at the scene and the
victim believed that Christopher took it with him when he left the apartment. Also, when
Officer Schuss responded to the scene earlier in the day, her BWC captured there being
two inflated air mattresses in the bedroom, when I was on the scene there were none”

“When the victim was asked to clarify what took place, she added that she and Christopher were both in the bedroom at the time that Christopher stabbed the air mattress and said, “this is what I’m going to do to you”. She advised that she was in fear that
Christopher was going to harm her based on his statements, actions, and the fact that
he had the knife in his hand. She also stated that Christopher took the air mattress and
threw it down the trash shoot prior to police arrival. Note, the trash shoot empties
into a compactor and when I made my way to the first floor, I could hear the machine
compacting the items inside. I also spoke with management at the complex, but they were
unable to grant me access to look inside the compactor”

“Officer Schuss spoke with Christopher over the phone and asked to meet with him in
person. Christopher advised that he was running errands and unable to meet right now,
but he would go to the “precinct” in a couple of hours with his attorney”

“CCTV footage from the Camden captured Christopher and his friend walking through the parking garage and entering a newer model Honda before leaving the area.
Based on the victim’s statements and the fact that she was put in fear by Christopher’s
actions and statements all while holding a knife, I found that Christopher Evans was in
direct violation of F.S.S. 784.021(ia) – aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.”

According to court records, Evans is being represented by a public defender. Evans was arrested on 7/16/22 and released the following day on a $1,000 bond.
